These Pet Services Terms & Conditions apply to all pet-related services provided by Just Ask Joe Ltd (“Just Ask Joe”, “we”, “us”) and should be read alongside our main Terms & Conditions. Where there is any conflict, the main Terms & Conditions take precedence.
1. Scope of Pet Services
Just Ask Joe provides practical pet support services for domestic pets, limited to:
Dog walking
Pet home visits (dogs and cats only)
Transporting pets to veterinary appointments where agreed in advance
Pet services may be booked:
As part of wider concierge support, or
As a standalone service
Just Ask Joe does not provide professional animal care, behaviour training, veterinary services or medical treatment, but is trained in dog first aid and can provide basic emergency first aid where appropriate.
2. Pets Covered
This policy applies only to:
Dogs and cats owned by the client
The following are explicitly excluded:
Exotic animals
Livestock
Reptiles, birds or specialist species
We reserve the right to refuse service for any animal outside this scope.
3. Dog Walking Conditions
Dog walking services are provided subject to the following conditions:
Dogs are walked one household at a time only
A maximum of two dogs per household unless otherwise agreed in writing
All dogs must be kept on a lead at all times
Off-lead walking is not offered under any circumstances
Dogs banned under UK law are not accepted.
This includes, but is not limited to: Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro and American XL Bully, or any dog that is prohibited under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 or subsequent legislation.
Just Ask Joe does not accept dogs with known behavioural or aggression issues. We are not qualified behaviour specialists and reserve the right to refuse or terminate a service if a dog’s behaviour presents a risk.
4. Home Visits and Property Access
Pet home visits may include feeding, basic care, welfare checks and companionship.
By booking this service, the client confirms that:
The pet has no known behavioural issues that could pose a risk
Just Ask Joe may enter the property when the client is not present, where agreed in advance
5. Key Holding
Key holding may be agreed:
Short-term (for specific bookings), or
Long-term (for regular clients)
Keys are stored securely and handled with reasonable care.
Keys are not insured beyond reasonable care, and Just Ask Joe cannot accept liability for loss or damage beyond this standard.
6. Client Responsibilities and Disclosures
The client confirms that:
They are the legal owner of the pet
They have full authority to instruct Just Ask Joe
All information provided about the pet is accurate and complete
The client is responsible for providing suitable and well-fitting leads, collars or harnesses. Just Ask Joe cannot accept liability for equipment failure unless caused by negligence.
The client confirms that their pet is appropriately vaccinated, treated for parasites where relevant, and fit to receive the services requested and can present proof upon request
Clients must complete a Pet Disclosure & Emergency Consent Form before services begin, including details of:
Health conditions
Behavioural history
Veterinary contact information
Failure to disclose relevant information may result in immediate termination of services and limits our liability.
The client remains responsible for the pet at all times.
7. First Aid, Medical Care and Veterinary Treatment
In line with the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, Just Ask Joe is not a veterinary professional and does not provide veterinary diagnosis, medical advice or treatment.
Just Ask Joe is dog first aid trained and may administer basic emergency first aid only, where appropriate, to preserve life or prevent further injury until veterinary care can be accessed.
This does not include:
Administering medication
Ongoing treatment
Diagnosis
Clinical decision-making
Where prior consent has been given, emergency veterinary transport may be arranged in accordance with section 8 below.
8. Emergencies
In the event of an emergency:
Reasonable efforts will be made to contact the client as soon as practicable.
Where prior written consent has been provided via the Pet Disclosure & Emergency Consent Form, Just Ask Joe may take the pet directly to the nearest appropriate veterinary practice for urgent care. Where reasonably practicable, the client’s usual veterinary practice will be used.
Emergency action will be limited to basic emergency first aid and transport to a veterinary practice where required.
Just Ask Joe cannot guarantee outcomes in emergency situations.
9. Liability
Just Ask Joe will take reasonable care when providing pet services.
We do not accept liability for illness, injury or death of a pet unless directly caused by our negligence.
We are not responsible for:
Pre-existing medical conditions
Undisclosed behavioural issues
Acts of third parties or other animals
Environmental factors outside our reasonable control
Liability is limited in accordance with our insurance cover and applicable law.
10. Cancellations and Charges
Cancellations, late notice, failed access or pet unavailability are handled in line with our main Terms & Conditions.
We reserve the right to:
Charge for time booked where access is not available
Terminate services immediately if safety concerns arise
Services may be delayed or cancelled due to circumstances beyond reasonable control, including severe weather, illness or access issues, in line with the main Terms & Conditions.
Just Ask Joe cannot accept liability for damage caused by a pet to the client’s property unless directly caused by negligence.
11. Right to Refuse or Withdraw Services
Just Ask Joe reserves the right to refuse or withdraw pet services at any time if:
A pet’s behaviour presents a risk
Information has been withheld or misrepresented
The working environment is unsafe
12. Insurance
Just Ask Joe holds public liability insurance covering pet services provided on a lead.
We are dog first aid trained, with certification valid until 17 January 2029.
13. Privacy & Data Handling
Pet and client information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
14. Governing Law
These Pet Services Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
